The first day of school for Rayner boy has finally come. With mixed anticipation and apprehension, mummy had accompanied him to his school to experience the first-day jitters in an new environment.

He will need to learn how to buy food from the school canteen and how to get along with his new teachers and classmates and be able to compete academically.

The theme for this year, 40th Annual graduation ceremony is 'HAPPY'.
The happiness that the children had brought up in the concert were spread into the hearts of the audience that will well the eyes of the parents with tears of joy as they felt their child had finally grown up.

Their teachers had put in tremendous effort to train the children. Kudos to all the TRBK teachers.

Rayner boy had performed Chinese Tribal dance and he had performed it very well in his concert.

Due to its modular resuability, Lego is always the best choice of toy play as the first step in a journey beyond the limits of his imagination.

Rayner constructed his plastic models through imagination, creation and vision.

Guess what Rayner is trying to construct? Is a fire station!

I (Rayner's daddy) had filed up the Lego manual, that help to guide him to construct
appropriate plastic models.

Rayner's 5th Year Birthday Bash@TRBK

When Rayner was asked to sit in front of the class, he looked rather nervous, quiet and shy, while anxiously awaiting for his birthday cake.

The classroom was very noisy with lotsa children chit-chatting and running around. The teacher calm them down when we arrived. The children reluntantly behaved, in order to enjoy the delicious black forest cake that we bought for Rayner and of course, the goodies bag that they were waiting for that packed with sweets, chocolates, etc.

The class begins to celebrate his birthday by singing the birthday song in English, Mandarin and TRBK versions.

Rayner looked rather comfortable now as he blew the candles. Ever wonder did he made a wish before he does? Mummy cut the cake while Rayner helped to distribute the cake to his teachers and classmates.

The children had queued up in orderly manner to receive their portion of cake. Some even return for the 2nd round.

Rayner@TRKB 39th Annual Graduation Ceremony

This year, TRBK presents "Journey Down Memory Lane" theme to celebrate their 39th Annual graduation concert 2008 for children from PN to K2. (1st November, 2008)

Throughout the performance, the joy and laughter from the parents filled the concert hall. Parents were calling their children; praising them for their good achievements in school.

Kudos to all the TRBK teachers whom had put in tremendous effort to train the children to come up with such a great performance.

Today is Father's Day. A simple dinner at AMK hub with families gathering to celebrate. Well, though their concern and caring may not as hearfelt than the motherly TLC, but their courage and determination to sustain a family is worth to be reckon with.

Rayner Boy goes to new School

Rayner's new school Thomson Road Baptist Kindergarten near to Novena Square. The school bus will picking him up at 7:10am and sending him back to his por por's house after 2pm.

Mummy will accompany him for couple of days till he's able to adapt to the new school environment.

There will be more teaching curriculum in his new school through good mixture of interactive activities such as Computer, etc; while he learn and play.

Swimming Time

Mummy, Daddy, San Ee and I went to San ee's condo for swimming fun time.

With the help of the swimming float, I learn to swim by kicking and moving both legs and hand. There's lotsa fun with mummy, daddy and san ee playing with me. Throwing and catching ball, splashing water and of course, swimming !!

After having fun with swimming, we went for some light snack at Bishan Junction 8. Later on, we headed on to Orchard road for shopping fun. Well, no new toys for me today :(

Lastly, we enjoyed with good korean food and home sweet home for the day.

With lotsa good foods, drinks. Friends & relatives are invited to join in the fun!
There's no birthday celebration without a birthday cake. We had ordered a nice 2.5kg birthday cake for him with his favourite character in it.

Kit Kit's Lego "eka-eka"

Lego are played by children and adults from all over the world. It mainly made up of small interlocking parts that are meant to encourage creativity and arts and crafts or decorative elements.

When rayner sees a crane in a distance, he say 'eka eka'. Using lego bricks, he attempt to make his very own 'eka eka'.

My Daddy and Me

Kit Kit's por por had went to Hong Kong together with Ee por for year-end holiday. Reluctantly, leaving behind her 'San gong poh beh'. Afraid pa-pa cannot handle, she will call up occasionally to check out.. The reasons:

Por por, Ee por, san ee, daddy and me went to Bishan J8 for dinner on the night before they fly to HK. They complained about kit kit being grouchy (aka lao-gai) last night. Don't want to sleep, unless being carried and that last till morning, 2am!!!

Worse still, by expressing his anger, he banged his head on the cupboard and push away por-por's hand as she trying to soothe him down.

Daddy's perspective view: To make things go smooth, lay a nice program for him to play, run around. Eventually tired and SLEEP. The objective: Sleep (aka 'kuning') so kid can grow clever and have a better mood.

Programs: Go library, bishan park, play bubbles, buy toys, foods & sweets, watch Barney, do lotsa drawings, shopping, etc.

Ho Ho Ho.. It's Christmas time again.. Photo-taking in the Christmas lighting at Orchard road is part of the program for locals and tourist as part of the memorable collection of families, friends and relatives gathering.

Christmas is celebrated in most countries around the world, owing to the spread of Christianity and Western culture, mixed with the enduring popularity of existing winter celebrations.

Various local and regional Christmas traditions are still practiced, despite the widespread influence of American and British Christmas motifs disseminated by film, popular literature, television, and other media.

San Ee had a great pre-Christmas celebration with Max gou-gou with a trip to Hokkaido, Japan to experience snow-falling, good foods and nice sceneries.

I hope one day daddy and mummy will bring me to Japan for a great overseas vacation! Yeah!

Chinese Lantern Day

Once a year, we celebrate this traditional festive with lotsa mooncakes, children playing with lanterns, candles, etc.

This year, we went for dinner at United square and later intended to head to Bishan park for lantern celebration. But due to the Haze, we stayed indoor to play with some fireworks.

On the next day, Kit kit went to por por's house at AMK where more fun and games for the Chinese Lantern festive celebration. Check these pics.

HAPPY CHILDREN DAY

Today, kit kit went to MacDonalds in J8 for breakfast. There's free hats, lucky dip draw and colouring contest. It's fun for the children as well as the adults, watching their kids having fun and laughter.

Time files.. Rayner boy had grown up as a toddler and ready to go for nursery class on January '07.Mummy is anxiously preparing documents and passport photographs of me for the registration.

TV Addict

Rayner Boy is really a TV Addict. He watches Barney or brainy baby, etc everyday, without fail.

It can be good for brain development through visual perception, as well as being bad for the eyes if too much exposure to TV light radiation.

So, we need CONTROL! Control works by rewarding them to watch TV when they behave well enough, or (for older child) if they had done their homeworks. TV can works as a helper to keep them busy for a while the adults can do their stuff.

Information from a webpage, that watching television will also reduces family dialogue between adults as well as between parents and their children.

The child might develop a habit of waking up in the morning watching television, going to school and returning home to watch more television until bedtime.

In this case, there is no time for meaningful interactions between the parent and the child. In some extreme cases, children who are developmentally slow might not develop proper communication and socialisation skills.

Remembering those days where every 2hrs of waking up just to make 2 ounces of milk and constant cloth diapers changing, really very tiring, but were overwhelmed with joys and laughter, watching them grow with much tender loving care.

As he grows, he is able to handle simple task like holding his own milk bottle, feed himself with spoon (but that will mess up the place!) and telling you that he's going to poo :)

Outbreak!!!

Poor little kit kit cried and cried while we grasp hold of him while mummy gave him a nice haircut. Poor litte kai wen had gone even worse with little red spots spread all over his body. PD suspected of scabies mite.

Afraid that it might spread to others, kai wen was quarantined with his mum taking care of him. Kit kit had to stay at bishan with us while por por cleansed the house to prevent any contagious outbreak.

Baby's "Lao gai" ness

Baby being 'lao gai' can just trigger on by many ways. E.g. feeling sick, boring, frustrated or even being scared. Dealing with lao gai on kit kit can done by showing him some Barney vcd or showing computer with some graphical display. E.g Raynerboy's blog. A day out during public holiday

Two public holiday fall together on this week. Hence, a simple family outing was planned for hearty 'food n shop-shop'.

Kit Kit loves 'gai-gai' (going out for fun), he's happily and anxiously siting on por por's lap while Max giving is us a joy ride.

We had arrived to liang court for our dim sum at 10am. Is pretty early thought,.. but well, 'early bird catch the worm', do they?

The ambience and food there was good. Rayner and gerald were having fun while the adults were enjoying the morning breakfast.

After the last dish was served, we planned to go around this area for shopping before heading to Orchard road.

Backed to por por's house after long day of 'makan n jalan-jalan'. Tired n sleepy, everyone try to catch a short nap while the babies had lazed themselves to dreamland.

Well,.. is a day go by,..

Rayner and Gerald Boys had celebrated this year's Chinese Mooncake and Lantern festival at Bishan Park.

During this happening festive event, Bishan park will be crowded with many children, showing off their lanterns and playing candles, while the adults will enjoy the live performance shows provided by the town council.

Family affairs involvement is crucial, as to strengthen the relationship bond between each of us. No matter how small or big issue it is, we need to understand that everything comes together, making sense at the end of the day.

I'm not talking big but had actually felt through during the blue days while being the first time as a father of a son.. (I.e. Well, don't think that guys wouldn't have post-natal effect, regardless how well you had mentally or physically prepared.)

I believe I will do it even better for the second child.. Right Prisy? hehe..

Inquisitively as he is, Rayner likes to observe our daily movements.

Here's are some incidents.

a. While playing with the napelene tube, he unscrew the cap, exposing the cream inside. Luckily, por por saw it and quickly bring him to the kitchen to clean his hand and face.

b. Play hide-n-seek with a curtain, towel or anything he can use it to cover himself up. Or simply dive down to your shoulder to hide his face within.

c. Por por was coughing as something was choking in her throat, little rayner laughs and imitate the coughing, making everyone burst into laughter while he's doing it.

Family Ties

As Rayner grows, he will become more sensible to his surroundings and the people he interact with.
Parents will become their role model and gradually, he will stick closer to them than everybody else. Till then, when we leaving from Por por's house, he'd cry relunctantly for our departure. I know such moments will come...
Being a role model for a child to learn from is not as easy as we thought. It seem that they learn fast on the bad things you do rather than the good ones.
The method of teaching,discipline varies from other parents. Reference books and magazines will come in handy for us to learn to coach the child in an appropriate manner.
Nowsadays, beating up a child is no longer the quick solution for discipline matters, where is used to be, during the 70s.
A good explanation on the reasons what things he/she did wrong and what should be the correct way in dong it, help them in differentiate and learn from their mistakes.
There are too many scenarios for what parents should do's and don'ts to be reckon with. Hence, experiences from other parents are good ways to share information that they came across before.
Getting to know your child well enough is just like baking a cake in the oven; understand the appropriate amount of ingredients added to produce the perfect product you want.
It is not the quantity of time spend with the baby but the quality of the time spend doing social interaction with the baby, in order to help to guide his social and intellectual development.

Parents with only weekends spending with the baby, need to gather sufficient information about their baby from the person who taking care of him/her. From there, they shall able to enchance the content and quality of the interactions between parents and child.

Rayner is always getting excited when he saw por por or mummy holding the bowl of porridge and a cup of water. His daily porridge was prepared with various ingredients such as fish,pork,tomato,
pumpkin and other types of vegetables.

Today,I went over at ang mo kio to see Rayner. During his usual meal time, he will be seated at his pram. while rayner's por por is feeding him, he accidentally kicked at the bowl. Some portion of porridge fell into the floor. He laughed at us after seeing por por's reaction as she was trying to catch on the bowl.

Together with por por, my daddy was carried me down to the market. Along the way to the market, waving to us were some of the aunties who like to play-n-cuddle with me.

One of them were saying, " kor kor (big brother) was carrying you ha".

"That was his father", answered por por. "Wah! so young, doesn't look like leh. How's old is he? And how' bout your daughter", questioned from one of the dubious fans.

My por por answered them n we moved on..

At the 4D shop, por por told my daddy she will pass me over to the next shop to take care of me while she was buying 4D. Don't worry daddy, I'm in the safe hands, overwatch by por por. :)

On the way back home, por por also tell my daddy that the aunties at the hong kong dim sum store in the market like to play with me as well.. In fact, there's lot more fans out there at ang mo kio. Haha..

Btw, my mummy is going for her company work trip to Korea. Well, I'm guess I'd stick with my daddy n por por till coming Saturday.

Rayner had his first swimming experience in a swimming pool. While he's floating inside his floating car, he was kicking his legs to move himself around the pool.

After a while, he's getting bored and crying to get into the water. Without the float, Rayner was having more fun inside the pool as there's more space for his movement.With assistance to him, he kept kicking n slapping his hands onto the water surface.

Looking at him, his joyness of "swmming" in the water bring lotsa laughter to his dearest mummy.

Sob sob,.. my Mummy n Daddy, together with Ee ee and ee jon are going away for a holiday vacation at Bali.

Me and little cousin,Gerald will be left alone,... sob sob :(
Not true lah, there's still lot of loving people whom taking care of me and Gerald.

Everyone were saiding us being very naughty,.. well, are we?
I had to say that is the growing stage of life and being a small boy like us, being naughty is a good sign rather than dumb and act like a zombie. I bet they will be worried n frightened if that happen.. Aaaaaahhhh,,,...!!!!

Hei, you know something,.. my cute look had won over people's heart, despite of my minor mischief. They even want to buy me some presents after some interaction with me through 'baby talk'. My mummy say I can be the most youngest salesman in the world! Hooray!!! :)

Haircut for Rayner @ Raffles place

Eversince por por had applying liqour at Rayner's head. His hair growth rate become very fast. With thicker hair around his head, it resulted to a 'sweaty' problem. The scalp will sweat profusely throughout the day n night. So I guess is time for him to go for a haircut.

Rayner first haircut was done during his first month old. Perform a quick haircut for him is a breeze by granny as he's small and unaware.

Now, little rayner is active boy. Sitting or lying around is a no-no for him. Hence, a baby walker is a good solution, but he's get sick of it after a while.

Rayner's por por n Ee ee(Yvonne) brought him along to hair saloon at Raffles place.

Little rayner sitting unpatiently for the haircut. Karen(hairdresser) was having a very bad time especially dealing with such little naive creature while being very cautious with her scissor as his action is very unpredictable.

Despite her best effort, there's a minor hiccup.. Irregular haircut slope at the back of his head. Nevermind lah, it will grow back soon enough..

Baby brain development

The myth or current scentific solution for baby brain development is to train and stimulate them from newborn; to cultivate their positive thoughts by interaction with the adults using tools(such as toys), interesting pictures and music for their visual, speech and hearing development.

kids in the olden days will just grow n had fun with simple games such as marble, flying kite, guti-guti, etc..

Nowsaday, Children future brain development must strive from the beginning stage of newborn to adolescent and so on, as the future challenge ahead is going to be tough whereby kids of today need to be "multi-tasking" with academic, sports, curriculum, tution, etc" to cope with.

I'm teething

Little Rayner was drooling saliva and had to be wrapped with a cotton bib since he was two months old. Ee por always said, " quick! get him a bib, he's "raining" again"..

Recently, little rayner is not feeling well with slight fever and flu. After taking some of his medication left from the past consultation, the fever was gone, flu remain.

Such signs of illness indicate little rayner is teething. Oh yes, little rayner boy is growing up.

Well, having those teeth is just like building a dam prevent water from overflow. Eventually, little rayner shall no more need a bib liao beside taking porridge.

Today, together with the neighbour, we went to Lorong ahsoo to consult GP as both mummy(cough) and little rayner(flu) are sick while neighbour's baby girl is having diahorrea.

Instead of doing home-cooked food, por por is giving herself a break by going to Orchard road with Ee por and of course, bringing me along to shop around.

My poor mummy is sick (i.e. fever, cough) at home. Equipped with laptop n printer w fax, she will station at home for work.

The weather is so hot that it need to turn ON the aircon in order to get me to sleep..Later, mummy n daddy bring me to mummy's friend baby full month celebration.

I'm very sleepy liao especially after porridge meal but I can't sleep as it so stuffy n crowdy over at their house. So Mummy n daddy "chop chop" and went straight to por por's house. On the way back, I managed to catch some sleep inside the cab. Ahh,.. air-con,..so shiok. Hehe..:)

Today, my house is having a small dinner gathering. With Ee ee's family n little cousin, Gerald (nick: mang zhang guay) and friends. Even my neighbour with their baby girl, Teresa are coming over. Is kinda noisy thought, but little rayner seem to enjoy himself a lot.

OMG! I vomitted out some of the porridge as I'm too full. Por Por was telling my daddy that when I'm full already, I will look away from the food or wondering off to other places.

OMG! My walker was spoilt! After I spilled out food onto the walker, por por clean it with cloth with excess water which damage the musical button. Sigh..

What a nice rainy day

Today I slept from 2:30 till 5pm. My poor granny (aka por por),frustated as she get, as Gerald couldn't get myself to sleep.

Daddy came around 5:15pm and had to left for work at 7pm. Por por was complaining to him about gerald for yesterday he kept waking up every hour during night period! Poor Ee Ee... :(
